Since 1998 journalism has been my day job – and between 2002–2008 I had the good fortune to write about film. One benefit of film journalism is movie pre-screenings, and in late September of 2006 I saw a preview of Jackass Number Two. The following day I was at the office with the antics of Johnny Knoxville and company cavorting about in my head, and for some reason I started to imagine vampires doing the same sort of stunts. Chuckling at my own thoughts, I realised in a flash I had found an opportunity to combine two loves – horror and film – with what I did for a living. I stopped whatever I was meant to be doing that afternoon and in a single sitting wrote the ‘review’ that appeared in the second issue of Blood, Blade & Thruster. My original title was 'From The Vampire Film Review' but I can understand why the editors changed it for the sake of clarity.
